Letters to Carson

Mom's Letter to Carson
November 20, 2006

To My Dearest Carson,

The anticipation of which day you will pick as your grand entrance into this big world is both exciting and scary. Will it be today, tomorrow, or next week? For me, this will be the happiest occasion of my life. I can hardly wait to see your face, to feel your touch, and to hold you in my arms.

I use to think that my life with your Dad, Jazzy, and Joey is as good as life can be. That is until you were conceived. From the moment we knew about you, we loved you. Having you is the start of a future that suddenly will make our whole world complete.

There are so many things I want to tell you about. Like the first time your dad saw you via an ultrasound, July 5, 2006. What a perfect day! We saw you open your mouth and swing your arms while you were still inside my tummy. Or the first time your daddy felt you kick, August 2, 2006. He was so excited; he acted like a little kid! He does that often, and you will love him for that!

I want to tell you about how loving and unselfish your father is and how lucky we ALL are to have him in our lives, but you will soon find that out on your own.

Now as we await your arrival, I can’t help but wonder if you will be creative or analytical, sensitive or impatient? Or maybe a little bit of everything? Will you resemble your father and have his green eyes or brown eyes like mommy? No matter what you look like, there is no doubt that you will be the most beautiful baby boy.

As excited as I am, I would be lying if I didn’t say that I have often lain awake many restless nights wondering what kind of Mom I will be. I hope that you will always feel safe and secure. And even though I will make many mistakes, I want you to know that we love you and we promise to provide you the security of a loving family and the guidance that will help you through the adversities in your life.

I hope you will always remember these words of wisdom and keep them in your heart.

RELATIONSHIPS

• Value your relationships with family and friends. A true friend is hard to come by.
• Find and surround yourself with people you respect and who respect you.
• The places you frequent and the company you keep will impact your character in the eyes of the world and will influence the habits that will follow you through life.
• Love and Respect yourself and others. This will teach others how to treat you.

CHARACTER

• Honesty is indispensable.
• Keep your Sense of Humor. Never forget to laugh and smile, particularly at yourself.
• Become more Patient – it’s essential for inner peace (Something Mom was never good at but Dad is great at.)
• Don’t make promises you can’t keep no matter how small they may seem.
• Know at all times what is important to you. It’s easy to get lost in the chaos of life.
• Follow your heart with passion and enthusiasm. This is who you are and what leads to deep satisfaction.
• Accept Responsibility. Most of what happens in our lives is a result of our own actions.
• Always do your best. Invest your energy and focus to the full extent. You will be great at some things, good at others, and lousy at a lot, but always give it your best shot.
• Don’t let fear rule you. Life is about risk and nothing worth having comes without it.
• Learn as much as you can. There are few things as important as knowledge.
• The little things in life ARE important!
• Try not to lose your temper. But if you must, do it for something REAL.

MONEY

• Money can help you do many good things, like follow your dreams, but it does not buy you happiness or love. Try not to forget this, but be aware that it is easy to forget.
• Please do not spend all of your money the second it hits your hand. If you do this you will always be working for money. Instead invest 10% of any money you receive and you will find that your money is working for you rather than the other way around.

More importantly, always remember that you are here because we want you more than anything and we will love you, care for you, and share our lives with you. We are excited that soon we will be together as a family; you, Daddy, Jazzy, Joey and me.

Whatever you choose to do with your life, just make sure you do it with pride and honor and that you are happy and we will be happy too!

With all my heart and soul,

Mom

Dad's Letter to Carson

To My Loving Unborn Son,

You were conceived with love and joy in our hearts. We are looking forward to sharing our lives with you. Your mom and dad love each other very much and wish to share our love with you. You also have two very special dogs in your life that will always love and cherish you, Jazzy and Joey. You have heard them barking in your mom’s tummy. I can’t wait to hold you in my arms for the first time and to see my love in your eyes.

We have so many hopes and dreams for your future. I hope you have your mom’s brains and my patience, my eyes and your moms beautiful good looks. You will bring such joy and happiness to our lives and your loving grand parents who can’t wait to see you.

Love Dad
