Baby Journal

Carson's personality is becoming more and more prevalent. Everyday we are learning something new about our little man. He is a very happy content boy. Likes everyone, laughs all the time, and is generally in good spirits. He appears to be a bit of a joker and has a good sense of humour. He loves watching TV and Jazzy and Joey play fight, blowing bubbles, hanging in the jolly jumper, baths, and babbling to anyone that will listen. He really is a pleasure to be around. And I am not just saying this cause I am his mom.

One Year Old

One day after Carson's first birthday, he pulled himself up and was found standing while holding on to the sofa. Now that Carson is able to stand, those magical first steps toward independence is just around the corner and means a lot more exercise for me!

First Time Standing
November 5, 2007 - Carson used Uncle Mike's big tummy to help him stand up by himself for the first time.

First Halloween
October 31, 2007 - Since Carson's nickname is pumpkin we thought it was appropriate to have him dress as one for his first Halloween.

Crawling
October 27, 2007 - Carson started crawling at Grandpa John's today. He still partially crawls and partially slithers, but he can definitely get anywhere he wants.

Eleven Months

Our little man’s personality is really emerging now. He is still very social; giving big smiles to everyone he meets. Finally, after months of only two teeth, Carson suddenly has three more teeth, with several more ready to emerge any day now.

Now that he's only one month shy of his first birthday, for the most part Carson is no longer that helpless infant who couldn't do anything without us. He still needs plenty of care and support, but his growing independence is becoming more and more evident. He is able to wave goodbye and clap when you ask him to, he’ll take steps when held in a walking position and he’ll hold out his arm or leg to help you dress him. Recently, Carson has wrestled with bouts of separation anxiety when we leave the room or when an unfamiliar person is holding him. This is unusual for our little social butterfly. Hopefully, he will get over this fear, rather quickly.

Carson understands simple instructions such as “give me” or “can I have”, which he will then give the object to you. He is also pretty good at choosing to ignore us when we say no.

First Swing Ride
October 14, 2007 - Carson went on his first Swing Ride. He absolutely loved it!

Audition
October 2, 2007 - Carson had his first audition for a Hasbro commercial.

Flicking
September 24, 2007 - Carson started flicking people and objects

Ten Months

Carson has developed a mind of his own, which is easily noticed when he protests. Our little man sure has a set of lungs, which he likes to use! Besides mastering his lungs, he is also mastering his fine motor skills, such as picking up small and big items and flicking people in the nose.

Carson began crawling as soon as he was put on Grandpa John’s carpet. It is apparent that having laminate floors was a determent to his crawling progress. Carson has had the opportunity to engage in playing alongside another child and seems to really like it. He still likes his jolly jumper and saucer, which he goes wild on. We are hoping that this means he will love going on rides.

Swimming
August 29, 2007 - We took Carson swimming in a pool for the first time. He loved it!

Camping Trip
August 26 to August 31, 2007 - We met up with Auntie Sandy, Uncle Greg, and Cousin Miles for Carson's first camping trip. Our good friends Cory and Logan were also with us. We had lots of fun!

Nine Months

Carson is still the most sociable creature around. Always smiling and babbling. His babble occasionally sounds like a sentence when he puts together two or three syllables. His tone of speech varies too from shouting to mumbling. Our increasingly assertive baby is starting to be able to make his needs and wants known. For the most part, we are very lucky as he only fusses when he is hungry or tired, otherwise he is still a very happy content boy. We were right! Carson went swimming for the first time and he loved it! Tired and all, he just perked right up when he was put in the pool. He is getting extra picky about what he eats, which is new as we had him eating fruits and vegetables. Our poor little man still only has two teeth, which we are brushing daily now.

Tuxedo
August 5, 2007 - Carson wore a tuxedo for his very first time. He looked just like a gentlemen!

Eight Months

Wow! Our little man is growing so fast. He is now sitting unsupported for long periods of time. He still has his bum up....way up in the air and is rocking back and forth, but has yet to figure out how to crawl. So for now he is still rolling and slithering across a room. The only difference is he is moving rather quickly. He still only has his two front bottom teeth. The others look like they are about to come in, but have not. Bedtime has started to become distressing for Carson because it separeates him from mom, dad, Jazzy and Joey. Once he falls asleep though, he is usually out for the night. Jazzy has started sleeping under Carson's crib. We think it's funny, cause he will crawl under the crib himself, but barks when he wants out. Carson has had two opportunities to wear his tuxedo so far. He wore it to his Uncle Alan and Auntie Rochelle's Wedding and again to his second cousin Charles and Pety's wedding.

Sitting UP
Eight Months - Carson is now sitting up unsupported for long periods of time.

Seven Months

With Carson's bum always up in the air, it's only a matter of time before he figures out how to crawl. In the meantime, his method of locomotion is slithering on his stomach or rolling across the room. He can now support some of his weight on his legs and he loves to bounce in his jolly jumper and exer-saucer. He can sit unsupported for a short time before he topples over. When Carson babbles and vocalizes, he sounds as if he's making sense now because he uses different sounds and tones. He difinitely is not shy but rather a chatterbox. He is now eating solid vegetables, meats, and fruits in the very cool high-chair grandma & grandpa T bought him.

Six Months

Carson is now cutting teeth. His two bottoms have come through and the top ones are almost there. I guess this explains why he has suddenly stopped blowing bubbles. This is a good thing as feeding solids to a baby that insists on blowing bubbles is quite messy. He is eating rice and other grain cereals 3 times a day now, although he still prefers his bottle, (hopefully, this is not a sign of his later years. (LOL)). Soon we will be moving up to vegetables and fruits and maybe this will be more appealing to him. He is finally sleeping through the night on a fairly consistent basis.

Father's Day - Carson bought his father a really nice Bulova Watch for his first Father's Day!!

June 17, 2007 - Carson had his first taste of vegetables....GREEN BEANS....and he seems to really like it!

Teeth
June 10, 2007 - Today Grandma noticed that Carson has two bottom front teeth! The top ones are very close to coming through also.

First Night's Sleep
June 5, 2007 - Wow, I can't believe it. Carson finally slept through the night without waking up. We put him down at 8:30 pm. When I woke up at 5:25 am, I realized he had not woken up the entire night. I asked Shane to go check on him. Of course, for a moment you think the worst. But our little man was completely content..sleeping away. He slept till just after 7:00 am. Hopefully, we will have many more nights like this and SOON.

May 29, 2007 - Carson had his 6 month shots today. What a tough boy we have. Once again, no crying, just a startled look when the needles went in.

Sleep-Over
May 17, 2007
- Carson had his first sleep over today. He spent the night at Grandma & Grandpa's house so that Mom and Dad can have their first all night date night. Grandma says he slept well and was well behaved. I don't think there is anything that Carson can do that would make Grandma say he was bad.

Five Months

Carson has the cutest giggle. His entire face lights up when he laughs. And he's beginning to get the joke — he'll laugh at funny expressions and try to make us laugh, too. He has started playing little games such as dropping objects just to watch us pick them up or to see how and where they will fall. He also has a fake cry that if you call him on it....he will start to laugh. Carson is now using both his hands to play and transfer objects with. He has an interest in the foods we are eating, but still has one more month before we give him solids. His awareness of his name is amusing as he will turn his head when you are talking about him to others. Carson is now rolling over from his back to his stomach on a regular basis. He still hasn't grasped rolling from his stomach to his back yet. We still have to wake up twice a night to give him feedings or put his soother (suckie) in his mouth.

Mother's Day - Carson bought his mother a really nice diamond heart necklace for her first Mother's Day!

Four Months

Carson now laughs, giggles, and smiles with funny faces and lots of general silliness. He enjoys hearing a variety of sounds and we don't need special toys or instruments to provide them. We simply click our tongue, whistle, or make animal noises — Carson loves it! His father has taught him to blow bubbles; so now our beautiful baby boy is quite fond of doing this one action over and over again. It's quite funny and most people that have experienced Carson's bubbles have never seen a baby do this before.

Three Months

Carson is still a big FLIRT. He greets everyone with big sexy smiles especially when they look him straight in the eye and coo or talk to him. He's looking at everything with curiosity, even his own reflection. He enjoys batting at objects and bouncing in his exer-saucer or jolly jumper.

Plane Ride
January 29, 2007 - Carson took his first plane ride to Las Vegas. We met up with Grandma and Grandpa, who spoiled Carson rotten with lots of hugs and kisses. He also had the opportunity to meet Aunt Laura and Uncle Fern. Plus he had lots of time to bond with my good friend, Lisa, who we call his "girlfriend" since he kept giving her sexy looks. I tried telling him that if he insisted in having a girlfriend 40 years his senior, at least pick a sugar momma so that Dad and Mom can retire. He didn't listen. I guess this is the start of a trend that will continue throughout his lifetime. Not Listening.

Two Months

What a lucky little boy Carson is. He is only two months old and he has a passport, which we used for the first time. Carson and Mom went to Las Vegas with Auntie Lisa to meet up with Grandma and Grandpa. He was an angel on the airplane and at the airport. Besides spending lots of time with Grandma and Grandpa, who spoil him, he also met and spent time with his Aunt Laura and Uncle Fern.

He has become an expert at "smile talk". He sends sexy smiles your way and then bashfully turns away when you notice him. Since he kept sending Lisa "sexy smiles" we now call her "his girlfriend". I tried explaining to Carson, that Lisa is too old for him and if he insisted on a girlfriend 40 years his senior, try to get a sugar momma so that Mom and Dad can retire. He didn't listen. I guess this is the beginning of a trend that will continue throughout his lifetime.

Shots
January 15, 2007 - Carson had his first shots today. He was such a brave little boy. He cried only for a few minutes then he was his happy content self again. He had no adverse effects.

First Giggle
January 7, 2007 - Carson giggled for me today. It was the coolest thing to hear!

Jacuzzi Bath
January 2, 2007 - Carson took his first big boy bath in the Jacuzzi tub with Dad. He absolutely loves splashing around in the water. This is a good thing, as his dad is a fish and needs someone to swim with him.

First Time Rolling Over
December 31, 2006 - Carson rolled over from his stomach to his back, twice today!

One Month

Carson is having big boy baths in the Jacuzzi tub with his dad now. He loves splashing and kicking. Dad thinks it's great that his son loves the water as now he has someone to swim with when Carson gets a bit older. He is very alert; spending many of his waking hours watching what goes on around him. One of his favourite fascinations is playing and staring at his hands for hours a day. He's even flashed his first genuine smile, a momentous event for us.

First Month

Carson's sleep patterns are still way out of whack. He was a night owl when he was in my tummy, becoming active at 11pm and again at around 3am. This is still his sleeping pattern. It's a good thing that his dad has taken time off work (5 months) to help me with and to enjoy Carson. He is sleeping in his bassinet next to our bed so we can attend to him without having to get out of bed. To our amazement, Jazzy and Joey's barking doesn't even faze him. He obviously heard it enough times when he was in my tummy that it is normal chaos for him. Right from the beginning, the dogs and Carson bonded. Jazzy likes to cuddle with him and Joey kisses his head and checks up on him. Carson was born with a strong neck. He is able to lift his head briefly and turn it from side to side when lying on his stomach.
